<p>The article traces how the balance-of-power idea has changed in contemporary international relations theory. Classical balancing still matters, but present-day practice reaches far beyond military competition. Technological rivalry, economic interdependence, international groupings, and the growing role of regional powers all make the link between resources and influence more complex. In the debate over unipolarity, bipolarity, and multipolarity, balance now looks less like a fixed state and more like a shifting configuration of capabilities, dependencies, and coalition ties.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>баланс сил</kwd><kwd>теория международных отношений</kwd><kwd>реализм</kwd><kwd>неореализм</kwd><kwd>полярность</kwd><kwd>многополярность</kwd><kwd>стратегическая конкуренция</kwd><kwd>международный порядок</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>balance of power</kwd><kwd>international relations theory</kwd><kwd>realism</kwd><kwd>neorealism</kwd><kwd>polarity</kwd><kwd>multipolarity</kwd><kwd>strategic competition</kwd><kwd>international order</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">Lind J.
